Not bad for a freebie

Post by Bryan1 » Mon Jul 08, 2013 4:55 pm

G'day Guy's,
Well got a call from an old mate yesterday saying he was rationalizing his vehicles and asked me if I wanted his subi. It's a one owner 1988 L series wagon with the body straight as a die and no signs of any rust. There is 348K on the clock and he did say he put new heads on about 5 years ago. It's got a brandnew radiator and the only thing wrong body wise is the door trims are all wornout which is the same as that old one we have here for spares and my mate did say the rear left wheel bearing may need looking at.

Now looking at the original books it says it's a L series wagon but on ringing the insurance mob they said for that year there is only GL and DL so I do assume this one would be the GL.

Cheers Bryan

ask them how they determine what it is DL or GL ! The insurance industry don't list the auto version of the RX known as the GLTA - they chose to incorrectly list mine as an RX !

Generally the DL has wind up windows and vinyl floors. GL has power windows and carpet.

Subaru Australia did this too. They only ever referred to the GLTA as an RX Turbo Automatic. In the brochures, advertising and the automotive press.

Good score!

I'm 99% sure that would be a DL - bog stock base model like most L series of the day.

Cheers
