EA82T all spark plugs wet with water

Post by steptoe » Tue May 16, 2006 11:54 pm

This red beast was bought with the prior diagnosis of either a head gasket or cracked head, but I found all plugs looked wet. This sounds to be maybe inlet manifold gasket leak, looks like black water in one pot. car has sat for over 12 months or more like this. waiting for battery to charge up if it takes it before spitting out. may try pressure test or cylinder leakage with my fire extinguisher (has female air coupling on end of hose so need to convert old spark plug and male fitting ) fire ex holds 90 psi and more if I can get it

She goes !!

I got the plugs back in, so no stripped threads there, crank, crank, crank, bit of throttle and woo hoo (sorry, another Toyota expression!), bloody loud lifters after sitting aroun, sweet zaust note and no oily smoke at the end !! sat an upturned bottomless bottle in radiator neck and kept the water up to it.damn shame no rego or steering wheel in place.

will leave it to pressurise itself o'nite and see how many have water in tomorrow

not my turn for a bonus.

pressure tested cooling system to 20 psi, very slow to drop to 15psi

upon start up, pressure gauge rose to 20 - 22 psi, so expect extra pressure is coming from a cylinder. have tried 2 seal tabs in water, ran for 20 minutes, now hoping seal tab can work its magic while no pressure in cylinder, looks like heads off anyway .

regaped Denso spark plugs W20EP U to 1.1mm, found timing at 10 degrees where should be 20, so reset that also
