It could be a loose or faulty selecter ,check underneath to make sure everything is bolted to the box and body....make sure there are no sticks or anything else jammed in the shifter linkage, if all is good i would say your synchroniser hub in the box is jammed on to second gear...if this is the case its probably damaged too! good luck though..

Yeah has happened to Brett and I, I wasnt even driving mine at the time, just lent in the window to knock it into nuetral ... knocked it a bit far and it went into second and wouldnt come out again, we fixed mine with out removing the box but is an absolutle magical act needing mirrors and torches. the selector comes adrift inside the box and it is just a matter of putting it back where it is ment to be, to do this you need to split the box and also remove the top inspection plate, it is prolly a whole lot easier just to pull the box and fix it that way.
Cheers
Grant
