l am travelling the globe at the moment and am surprised to find here in Israel the number of Subaru's around. To be honest there are literally hundreds of Brumby's here and most have wierd canopies that stick up 18" above the roof line so they can accommodate a full size door at the back. This means that Pygmies like me can actually, (or very nearly), stand up in the back. These vehicles are very popular with the vendors and farmers here and are in abundance all around this country but nearly all have some kind of panel or rust damage and speaking with their owners reveals that they are very loyal to these vehicles and have no desire to upgrade to newer vehicles but instead spend whatever is ness to keep these vehicles running regardless of what they look like.
l have photographed many of these cars and will post photo's upon my return to Aus whenever that is/

I keep in contact with a very keen fellow that owns a Subaru L Series in Israel. Apparently they didn't get the fancy models and this fellow resorted to buying 2 cars in the US on eBay and had them stripped there - and the parts shipped over to him in boxes.
They are all over the middle east. Heres a news article (scroll down) with a picture of an L Series that was bombed and all

They sure are but every one that l have seen has dents all over them and covered in an inch of dust, real popular though, lsrael is the distributor for Subaru's in and throughout the middle east and on a recent trip to Eilat drove past the docks and saw thousands of them, (new ones), parked in a huge compound.
