Hi guys, looking for the air/fuel screw on the carb of my ea82 l series. Is it located just to the right of the idle screw in that circular piece of metal?

Do you have to drill this section out?

that screw is set from factory, hence it being blocked off. I have heard of people drilling it out. playing with the mixture won't solve the problems of a carby that needs a rebuild on an engine that needs a rebuild. It will let you adjust the mixture but to what gain...

I wouldn't stuff with something that has been fine for 20 years - as in mixture screw -especially now if you screw up, some people are not gonna be able to sort you for a while.

If you drilled it, would there be a thread to take a mixture screw, is there a taper as well ??

Steptoe, on a spare carby I have this has been drilled out and underneath is a tread and mixture screw installed. Not sure if it was there from factory though.

This morning I found a vac line that had been disconnected in my rumblings. Reconnected it and car is idling and running smooth again. Just goes to show...it's normally the simple solution hey.

I was going to say that the factory screw is there, but you beat me to it.

ah, just a bung to stop tamper of the real thing !!

Gees, you almost need to disconnect one hose at a time and note and publish results to help future diagnosis

Good that you didn't bugger things up

This thread might spur me into action to see why my L series does not idle the best. Hasnt done so since I replaced the timing belts.
Belts are all good, timing and timing marks are good, will have to have a look at hoses (again)
