2005 Liberty Luxury Advice Required

Gday all,

Looking at getting a 2005 Liberty Luxury 4GEN 5sp Manual.
It has the 2.0L Petrol motor and I looked up the specs and it seems to only have 101kw.
Now to me, that seems rather low. The car I am selling is a falcon, and has 180kw obviously in a I6 and a bigger car.
So how does the Liberty at 101kw compare? Is it as slow as it reads at that power output haha?
Also, what cheap things can be done initially to increase that? I am assuming parts are available from the more powerful models?
I have no idea...

Also, the car has about 65000km. Is that low for a liberty at that age and what things should I look for when I look at it again tomorrow?

Yeah forget the 2L model and look for a 2.5L which has 125kw, but comparably more torque. There is also the H6 model which has 181kw.
65000kms is bugger all and is practically just broken in. My 2001 Outback has 250000kms and still runs prefectly

+1 go look at the the 2.5l liberty's, there is plenty of them around and dont cost much more then the 2.0l. The 2.0 is a good motor but i dont think anyone would choose to have one when they can have a 2.5l

Actually yeh found a few more for a bit more cash, but they have closer to 110000km. Is that too many kms?
I want a reliable car, dont want another car that looks good on the surface but is actually tired.

if it has a good service history and hasn't been flogged then it should be fine. there is always the risk buying second hand regardless of ks just make sure at that ks the timing belt has been done.
you will prefer the 2.5l over the 2.0l especially if you buy an auto

Just that it has a lot of kms. Makes me worry haha and still a higher price.

As long as its been looked after the H6's are great.

My 2004 OB does alright although its an auto with 230k

The only main issue with the H6's is the idler pulley on the front of the engine due to a design fault and the bearing chewing out but they are an easy fix.

a neglected subi with 100km on the clock would still be more reliable than a well maintained falcon with 50km on the clock haha.

100k from an 05 model car is fairly average ks. Make sure its got full service history and go for your life.

Is the H6 one youre looking at a 3.0R or RB? The RB is a very nice car (my dad has one) the only issue is the bilstein suspension can be rough but it handles really well.

edit: just saw it was a 3.0R manual.

buy it. Theyre a good car. The manual is a fair bit quicker than an auto and they have a bucketload of power (youll find its quicker than a XR6)

Ended up getting the following:
2006 Subaru Liberty MY06 3.0R-B Grey 6 Speed Manual Sedan
107000km, full leathers. Had belt done apparantly. Great nick.
$18500 all up!

Are you sure? Id check that because the H6 doesnt have a timing belt, it has a chain.

But a good purchace otherwise

The dealer rang the subaru dealer, the dealer said this model had a belt not a chain....
In any case, if after I buy it and the belt/chain hasnt been done. I can then make a claim and the dealer fixes it.

Not timing belt.. The idler pulley on the front of the engine.

Yep with the STi six speed. They're mean to haul ass pretty hard

The H6 and manual combo is off this planet! Venom's with the Sti five speed was full on hard core before the offroading dual range box went in. Even now it's still very quick off the mark!
