See where im going with this..
Ive seen it done on foresters and dont see why i cant do it myself.
Anyone know the legalities of drilling into the support bar to fix a mounting bracket.
Im also going to have to modify the grille and fit new mesh.
This is going to be awesome.

Hmmm ... it might look good, but I'm not sure your radiator will like it though, with a reduced air flow you might want to keep any eye on the temp guage ...
You will also loose a bit of 'brightness' from putting it behind the screen ...

its a good idea, but with smaller lights i reckon.

Yeah looks like about a third of the light will be wasted into the back of the bumper

I was concerned about lack of air to the radiator but there is a massive space in the lower part of the bumper but i will still keep an eye on the temp.
Lack of light i can deal with as its a better compromise than having thebig lights hanging off the two licence plate screws bouncing around and cracking my paint

that looks familure HAHA, you will find the biggest issue, is the amount of room you have between your radiator and where the light sits, i know on mine i had a thin light and ground some of the rear of the grill so the lights could point down

One could always use rectangular lights,Quality lights are about more than just size and shape have a look at some of the Led light bars the off road american guys use on their trucks.
Integrate one of those into the sheet metal would be trick.

I saw this done on an old shape cortina (2 litre madness that did the imperial ton standing still) when the spotties were turned on, not only did it light the night up like a forest fire. the reflected light lit up under the bonnet of the car like an alien visitation. Light seeped out of every corner of the bonnet. A rather spectacular thing to see as it drove past in the late night, but it made it hard for the driver to see out of the windscreen.

Some rectangular spotties might be a better fit.

Yeah, LED's the way to go ...
See here :

A LED bar would fit nicely behind grill ...

Some nightrider lights perhaps..
Ill be cautious of the light seeping out of the bonnet but im pretty sure the subies are fairly solidly sealed up.
I should have them sorted tomorrow

Wouldn't they melt the grille after being on for a while.

This is an aftermarket grille which is fibreglass and alloy mesh..
The heat put out by the lights isnt worrying though.
Ive refitted them to the licence plate bracket for now and ill keep an eye out for something smaller to fit inside the grille.. Speaking of which those leds look cool

I first started using these back in 1974 (they were on the car already) and again in the late 90's, they would have to be one of the best bang for buck lights out there still to this day, I'd swear by them.
