Are you serious??

A Brumby or the L series or the MY's wouldn't even qualify for one star!

And in reality your car is only as safe as how you drive it - and this should be changing ALL THE TIME with the road and traffic conditions.

End rant.

Used Car Safety Report
The Subaru Brumby has been awarded a 1 star Driver Protection rating in the latest Used Car Safety Rating (UCSR) report. UCSR are reported annually by the Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC). Ratings are estimated from data on real crashes reported to police in Australia and New Zealand and provide a very high level of confidence. The UCSR report classifies cars according to where their rating lies in relation to a best performance benchmark. The Driver Protection rating measures the relative safety of cars in preventing serious injury to their own drivers in crashes.

Even a two door Smart car gets three stars. http://m.ancap.com.au/vehiclerecord?Id=56&make=24

Just goes to show how much safer ABS and airbags make you.

Smart cars have no crumple zones.
They are basically just a very strong box.
They don't need to crumple.
But when you smash it into a brick wall at 60-100.
Your still farked. They just bounce around.

Airbag = 1 star
ABS = 1 star
crumple zones = 1 star
extra airbags = 1 star
side intrusion pillars = 1 star

get the picture :) this is some what how it works, the car gets a star for each safety feature and its overall score in the crash tests.

At least that was how it was explained to me by an insurance assessor.

by the way I remember this girl we called airbags I wonder where she is today :)

Who says Carl should be made to drive a Jumpup for a month for that stunt ?
There's been a few members attest to their own ancap rating of a Brumby in here over the years - more their roll over rating is better .....

Not sure about that...

this was at 70mph, which is well beyond the regulated speeds of formal crash testing - I would never own one, but is nevertheless impressive for such a small car crashing at high speed

Not to mention Jumbucks are hideous! :o

Sven, I've seen that vid before and the little smart holds up to impacts amazingly well. But whatever you're travelling in, its the going from 70mph to zero in a matter of a few meters that kills you.
Will it ever end!?

Where's WRXER ?

In case everyone forgot he put his Brumby plans on hold while he built a 4G63 turbo AWD (Mitsubishi Evo for those who don't know) Jumbuk. Last I heard it was all but finished. Apparently the Jumbuk is basically a Lancer underneath and theis conversion is fairly straight forward :)
