What's it worth?

I have an 82 Leone Sedan Rally car with import EA81 with Big Port Heads and factory twin carbs. The motor is extensively worked with a cam. I can't tell you what the internals are as I'v had no need to pull it down in the four years since I've owned it. I know the carbs are hard to get so I'm looking for a price range for the carbs and manifold. I would also like an idea on what the big port heads are worth.
Cheers,
Greg.

Please don't ever part it out!
What carbs do you have? The factory hitachi or weber?
We NEED pics.

Steptoe. Safari model?

Cheers Cam

Yeah dont' sell the heads and manifold/carbs separately, there's too many odd twin manifolds out there with no big port cylinder heads to match already :o You might get more for the engine as one piece anyway. For reference quite a few months back just a twin manifold and carbies sold on ebay for a little over $600.

If the carbies are just normal Hitachi ones they aren't worth alot, but as a set with the manifold, heads and cam it could be worth a bomb...pics? :D

The carbs are Hitachi and the manifold is matched to the heads. I will be selling the motor complete. There is also a 4wd 5speed gearbox with centre diff to match the motor. The gearbox is 100km old since a rebuild. The rear end has RX turbo disc brakes and the diff is open. The final drive is 3.9:1.
The car is not a genuine factory build. It has been built up using an Australian body. The car has been rolled and there is a rust free body available. There is also a sedan rear half cut. There are also heaps of spares of all descriptions. It will probably go to ebay in the next week or two.

No need for ebay with us vultures around

Pics please :) , of carbs, air filter box, close up of heads inlet ports - even if you have to email them to someone to post up

Is the EA81 streetable in its rally tune or is it a pig below 3500rpm ?

Yeah I would, but more importantly for my current build:

If it's a "proper" locking centre diff gearbox I'd be interested in it - more so if you know that the centre diff is in good to great condition.

Sounds like you've got a real gem on your hands. Shame to part it out, but if you have to let me know about the gearbox, I'm keen to get mine finished and I need the centre locking diff.

Cheers

If this does materialise into a sale, have your eyes wide open.

Not unheard for scammers to troll car websites and have the 'ultimate barn find' - E49s, Monaros, etc for sale. Often involves re-direction to online auction sites (such as the Bay of Es) +/- Western Union wire transfers etc

There are a few threads about this type of scam (not on this actual proposed sale) on Shannons.com and Carpoint

Red flags = Only joined to sell, no intro, no pics, no vouching by other member(s), no contact details, no-one has seen it

Hope this not the case here...

Good point Sven, I didn't know they'd turned their attention to forums etc.

I know what you're talking about on fleabay too - I've got the same sort of personal "filters" when I'm looking at fleabay items. I guess I'd better get wise with forums etc.

Thanks for the awakening! And I too hope this is not the case, I'm keen for that gearbox to complete my build. I'd grab willie's old turbo L and use that but I don't have the amount of coin to do that then I'd have to get it back here. It'd be a great vehicle for some fun once I'm ready for another one on the road!

Cheers

Can't get an idea of price but know it's reasonably rare. Stuck engine on ebay with buy it now price of $2500.00. Maybe that'll get the tounges wagging and give me an idea of what it's worth. Pics on ebay as well.

Am pleased to see it has materialised - however, one has to be aware of the scammers that are out there, and with 1 post you are a an unknown quantity in our community.

All the best...esp with $2.5K on it as last dual carb engine sold on here for ~$800 2/12 ago

For reference I bought mine for $1300 in January this year, but it doesn't have a racing cam.

Racing stage 3 cam for an EA81.
What would that be, realistically $500 max?
