We are back!

Hi everbody! Drove for 11 hours yesterday to Sydney and back to pick up a 2nd Gen Outback for me old man, who collected a Roo a couple of weeks ago at Tamworth on Hols and wrote off the old L series. Coulda picked some nicer weather for this, but it was a week in planning and we were not going to be put off by a bit of rain! Anyway, I drove the Outback home to Albury, and despite a well worn clutch it went ok. Every now and then the check engine light came on and went off, and there was a shudder, hesitation or even a miss under very light throttle, like when coasting or feathering the throttle to just slow down a bit. Accelerate again and it would dissappear and pull away nicely. Previous owner said the Air Flow meter had been replaced and Subaru couldnt fix it, they told him it could be one of the 3 Oxy sensors? My question: How many Oxy sensors would this have? it is 2.5 DOHC manual trans. and would this shudder cause the check engine light to come on ? Did not seem to match in timing. Thanks in advance.
