apology to Vortex owner

This is a somewhat belated (by about 27 years) apology to the owner of one of the first Vortex owners.
I shared a dim view of the Vortex because of you (the owner of first Vortex I ever laid eyes on, it was silver, he was always in his almost designer running gear - stood out 27 years ago)- getting around in your runner specific shorts and singlet, doing your before and after run stretches and warm ups, pulse taking etc. (he looked like a right poser doin' his stretches against the Vortex - (again, 27 years ago stretching was not as commn amongst runners - unless you are of um, maybe , Olympic standard ? )

Maybe the back end of your ( it is an apology so it is directed at him, if he ever visits :) , hence the tense : you ) Vortex was a convenient leaning support for your (him again) stretches. I just thought you were a poser (or worse) , so I took a dislike to some rice burner that I considered looked too jet fighter like to be a car "huh, what are they trying to do? " (wasn't as into aircraft design then, pre- Top Gun perhaps? )

Little did I know that I would later be interested in even looking at a Vortex again (heave) or raise my 'brows to find some were turbo AWD even !!

Little did I know that one day I might actually look at a few with idea of buying one (thought the same about the basic old EA81 in a Brumby

Little did I know I'd own one someday.

I bumped into an old guy ( a mechanic and workshop owner once-upon-a-time - Morrie) I've known over the years, who mentioned something about the Vortex being ugly as sin ( may be where I got the expression for my opinion from too !), five minutes later looking at mine , I think he was at least feeling a little more neutral about the Vortex :)

Told me how back in about '85 his workshop had a customer with one - a silver front wheel drive NA. The owner was a runner , ran a coupla Olympics ..... (then it dawned on me, the first Vortex I had seen - mentioned above, and Morries customer with one, was the one and the same. So, being of Olympic standard runner he was entitled to wear his designer run-faster running attire and just as well he stretched - did him some good, and in my more recent life have learned the importance of stretching - therefore - my apology !!)

OK  , maybe I was the tosser and he had taste , money and something to contribute to Australia
