21.5 kg - Brumby bullbar

Post by steptoe » Sat Mar 31, 2012 6:11 pm

The ag quip style bar and its brackets and blinkers. Just a bit of trivia. My other chunky chube bar from a Navara ? weighs just 16kg . The factory bumper bar just eight kegs.

Pulled mine off to hit it with crinkle finish black and ran out of it so not the best needs to be topped up as it crinkles to see where bits did not get three criss cross paint applications. Painted all but the profile of the original bumper - all the uprights and tubes copped the crinkle or wrinkles

Paint instructions say cross hatch spray pattern is needed with each coat and that it takes time for the wrinkles to occur. I stepped out for a few hours to return to a few shiny patches, and with no paint left in the pressure pack tin to cover those spots....

I have got one of the heavy bull bars spare out the back, it may even be heaver as it is a 4 poster, but not game to put it on any of my brumbys cause it is just too heavy, was thinking of selling it for scrap cause it is pretty rough.

I could only justify my 16 kg bar when I weighed the plastic bumper at 8 kg and the AC compressor at same, so shed 16 and gained 16 :) This ute may have to find more than the AC comp gone to make up for it, that went a while ago .... another 5 kgs to break even
