Anyone choped a Brumby in half and made a trailer from the back half.
I have an Idea and half a brumby but would like to see if anyone else has done it.

I know that an
L series trailer has been done. Don't know about a Brumby. It would actually be easier, what with the try already designed for load carrying.

Your missus gonna kill you ?

grafiti dudes been at your trailer plate too !
You are thinking what ? torsion bar instead of leafs ? The Brumby only had 20mm bump stop clearance - consider that with your trailer idea. Should be a quick job

Personally I would keep using the white trailer you got the half cut on !
Having made trailers of all types here in the UK the finished product will allways be a compromise of one sort or another.
The main area of concern should be the design and application of the A frame or draw bar. Get this wrong and the thing wont tow correctly or could be inherintly weak and thus a danger. There should be extra depth in materials where the draw bar / A frame appears from under the body of the trailer. Have you considered the method of braking and actuation of same ? (in UK hydraulic brakes on a separate trailer are not permitted) The cab back also will make for disruptive aero dynamics at speed.
Payload ? 400kgs in the Brumby as a vehicle - what can your tow vehicle tow - remember its the combined gross maximum that is the figure to establish / see if you can legally tow this / braked or un- braked.
It can be a minefield !
Great if you want a 'looker / project' but not an ideal base for a work-a-day unit.

What a project mood killer...., lol. But i guess you have some good points.
I would love to make one too one day:) I remember that there is a guys that used the brumby torsion bar/axels to build a custom tilt trailer over east.... Not sure who.

Steptoe. yer she is not real excited.
Yer Torsion bar, I have a setup from a coup.
thanks for the 20mm heads up, i'll keep that in consideration.
Gilies. I am keeping the white trailer.
see post no 5. this is my main concern also.
No brakes and it won't be aerodynamic as it will be a "looker" project. I don't even plan on keeping it but want to build one. (cause I can)
Guy, I had already thought of the things Gilies had mentioned so he hasen't put my flame out yet and appreciate his and your input.
I have an idea, just need someone to help me get the shell off the trailer, but I have to roll an L series onto its roof to stip some parts off before I start on the trailer.
Keep the ideas coming fellas

Steptoe I just checked the Brumby swing arm has 25-30mm bump stop blocks on th arms where the coup doesen't have any blocks. At a guess that will give and extra 50-60mm travel at the axle before the swing arm hits the rubber. I may have to weld a 6mm flat plate on the swing arm though to the rubber stopper hits a flat surface.

Some playing around.
Fitted up the torsion bar and put some wheels on so I can move it aroud the back yard.
Have dry fitted some plates to weld the draw bar to, still playing with Ideas.

Why don't you turn it around so that it is facing backwards, remove the window and cut the roof section so that it looks like a spoiler ?
Or just cut the entire roof section off and just use the tray.

I Like that , But if the back wall was made into a tail gate then the spoiler would get in the road unless you are a midget.
I think if the roof section was cut off it would be more practicle but would loose the Brumby look.
I have a flexiglass canopy that will be fitted so it will be a sealed trailer.

If you make a box in the old cab area to hold a keg and gas bottle take the window out and have a bench top over the box so it will hold your beer glasses and beer tap place a spar in the ute section would make a great party trailer. Something like this but better

Food for thought, ex member 'Mechawagon' or Ben, made a boat trailer using the 2wd rear end from my MY sedan.

alang. That is a great Idea.
Thunder. yep will do, Picking up some 50x75x3 RHS Gal today. Nah sorry no idea on what it will weigh as yet.
Gannon that is pretty neat, did he leave provisions for shockies. I like the A frame onto a single bar idea and will use it.

That would be a good way of putting independent suspension under a camp trailer too
