Post by aspro » Thu Jan 26, 2012 7:53 am

Just saw the new subaru XV tv advert... will certainly pull the heart strings of any long time subaru lover with cameo apperances of nearly every generation of subie from the 360 onwards. I just love it!
if you havent checked it out http://www.bestadsontv.com/ad/41975/Subaru-XV-Carwash

its currently ranked 6th most popular ad on tv in oz

Enjoy

Most of the new ads are pretty average but I really like the XV ad. I guess its an aussie ad, that why.
I really like how they heaps of different models from the 360, not just the latest generation.

& I'm sure it wont be the last lol ;)

It is a great ad with some very rare Subies like the 360 & the 22B. Thanks to this ad my knowledge of Subaru models has grown. So does this mean ads can be educational? haha

At least the third and it may be due to ambiguous titles given.

Could maje it fourth if you include the post from the Impreza guy asking for examples of Fujis old stock, was not looking for a Vortex, had one of his own in his signature.

I am wondering, did I see the nano second of the Vortex rear guard with aerial in the clip ??

Good observation Steptoe..
It was me looking for vehicles for this commercial shoot some months ago.

Unfortunately while my Vortex was used in one of the days shooting, it suffered a terminal turbocharger failure, and couldn't be used for the second days shooting without damaging the engine.
This meant the continuity for the add wasnt there, and it missed the cut.. I am sure that it can now be found on the editing room floor.

The aerial shoot is the White SVX that appears in the background of the add, yet another of my friends vehicles..

It's a pity that we couldn't round up an old GSR Leone to add to the mix hey???

The cars included in the add are pretty impressive though:
Impreza 22B
STI 4Dr
Legacy S401
360
L series wagon
L series sedan
SXV
Liberty GT Tuned by STI
Possum's old Group N car
Cody's Tarmac rally car
Brumby
Forester GT
Liberty RS Turbo
and the current model crop..
The List:
1982 Subaru Leone GLF-A
1990 Subaru Liberty Rally Project - Now with added EZ36
1987 Subaru Vortex XT - In the Family
1995 Subaru Impreza SRX Hatch - SOLD

While a GSR would be nice what about a bloody 1970s 4WD wagon! This is the model, after all, that put Subaru on the map in Australia.

Damn! Wish mine was more presentable than it is!
Old Boxer Tricks
1980 Brumby
1978 4WD Station Wagon
1974 DL Sedan
1974 GSR Coupe

Sorry to hear of the demise of your turbo at such a crucial time ! Fixed her up yet ? Possibly due to heat stress of sitting around too long on the days shoot?

Damn it would have been good exposure for the Vortex.

I saw the ad again - looks so much better on the old 68cm TV than it does on my 17" monitor - and it is an ad catching the viewers attention from start to finish, with those short nano second snippets reaching a deep part of the brain I am sure - subliminal advertising ? :D

Sort of glad my Vortex was not sought or offered - looked pretty dusty out there. There must be some pretty proud owners out there copping questions from complete strangers - "was this the car in that ad" or now we are gonna get a few Brumby owners doing there own look-a-likes :D

Tell you what ImprezaSRX, you could have a little competition going on here trying to guess the shoot locations and budget.

I am going to say that what I saw looked like Tarago - home of The Loaded Dog Hotel and those rocks look Cooma Jindabyne ish. The sound track - one of Molly Meldrums produced??

Yeah I believe it has this typical tail gate dent!

I much prefer the full version of the ad where the brumby starts off covered in crap in the shed :D

The short doesn't really do the subaru line up the justice it deserves!

Cheers

Alot better than a city ad. Having the BRZ on a circuit track would be good as its not designed to be an alrounder type car.
