Now that's a COOL engine. Running so cold you can leave your hand on the block after an hours running.

I can confirm Toyota do run direct injection and intercoolers on 1HD-T (well now its actually called 1HD-FTE) motors in 100 series, 78's and 79's run no 'cooler.

Interesting to read about this "production ready" Subaru motor. Didn't seem to take the final step, never heard of a V4 getting out there. They probably backed out due to a similar reason that the article brought up - the "timing" belt being a heavily stressed item that would cause a catastrophe under failure. Having fitted an EJ20 turbo motor to a standard height vehicle, I have run into the problem of a motor sitting too tall. This puppy looks like its for lifted / tall vehicles only, and since the JDM buys road cars with low profile bonnets like Honda's and Lexii (plural Lexus ) this form factor probably wouldn't suit the company's goals in that area. Unless it was destined for a vehicle like a Tribeca, Mr Fuji has obviously not followed through.
