Disc rotor size????

I see eBay sells different size front rotors to suit the Brumby.
Sizes are 230mm and 242mm
Why is there two different sizes ? And apart from physically measuring them, how do I know which ones suit my Brumby ?

Would the bigger ones be better?
What about the "gold" rotors?

different size Brumby ? Gen 1 and 2 ?? (still waiting on gen 3

)
I thought the only gen 2 difference was vented or solids - think a Sube spares fella told me there is only one listing for calipers on gen 2 Brumby. Maybe non Brumby MY has some differences??

I thought that 2wd models had solid front rotors, and the 4wd's had vented
One would think that for 2 different size rotors, there would have to be 2 types of calliper too.
What size is an L series disc? Maybe he has made a mistake.
EDIT:
Just had a brainwave (or maybe my first post was a brainfart)
Maybe the smaller disc is from the early 72-81 models

Am I mistaken or do the brumbys before 1987 come with solid rotors from the factory, I do know the solid rotor is smaller. As well the 1983 touring wagon supposedly came with ventilated front discs but every one I have ever seen at the wreckers has been in parts or Ive not had time to check.
The vented disc is wider and as such so is the caliper.
The "L" series rotor is definitely bigger, but as I have very little data on the "L" series and the owner of the only known hard copy of the "MV" FSM in Australia

is away fighting giant squid and white whales. I cannot tell you the exact sizes for the brumby (MV) or the "L".
Logic (and at this time of coffee) dictates that the 230mm will be for the brumby and the 242mm will be for the "L" series.
send the nice man a message outlining your quest for the right rotor the first time.

My 10/84 compliance plate date Brumby has vented front discs (and solid rears

) although whenever I go by catalogue part numbers for this date, I get wrong pads DB326's when the DB426's are the correct fit. Also had a box of Bosch D
P yeah P never seen before or since426. Who knows what happened in the first 500,000km of my Brumbys life in the repairs dept. Rumour was it got a new roof, along with import engine, gearbox and some rear swing arms, maybe front calipers from later Brumby - even though they are all the same ?

the 84 brumby I wrecked had vented discs.
edit and they are 230mm

Only the 82 Brumby had solid discs, the rest were ventilated...

So I'm still a little confused !
Am I to assume, that as I have a 91 model, that it's ventilated and 230mm ???
Okay, so the next curly one is, will my calipers fit the 242 mm discs?
(What is it with Brumby's and discs... Trying to work out front discs, as well as find some Rear discs.... I'd have better luck ringing NASA and asking them to bring me back some Moon Dust ! Lol )

Hey brumby91, just pull a front wheel off and measure the diameter of your existing disc.
A biger disc if it will fit is of no use (except it will dissapate more heat) cause the caliper is still the same distance out from the center.

any larger dia rotor will preventr the caliper going back on

How about going to your local parts shop and getting a cross reference on the listed parts? This may remove any confusion you have about your brumby, or do as revmax has said and end the query in your driveway...
You need to be very careful when buying parts off the net - yes they are cheaper but are they superior and most importantly, are they the part you actually need?? Some vendors don't do refunds and they may not have the actual part you need to do a swap - so what starts out as cheap ends up more expensive than your local parts joint.
And besides, if you've got a good parts joint, why not support them anyway? I love heading down to my local, even just to be greeted at the front door or to nut out the dodgy parts books to get what I'm actually after - you can't get that service over the net!
