Slotted rotor vs. plain rotors

I'm curious if others think it's worth the price difference.
I got a quote for $160 for a slotted rotor, (or is it a pair?)
and $60 for regular rotors.
I'm thinking slotted rotors would be an easy pick if I lived near mountains, but I don't.
I also have a manual transmission, so I take advantage of engine braking quite frequently.
On a similar topic
regular brake pads about $30, Bendix higher performance pads at $58.
I'm thinking it's worth the extra price for grippier pads.

Don't bother with slotteds, especially not on an L. Get a decent brand if you can.
Bendix pads ftw. They work, they last and they don't create heaps of dust.

They are just gas grooves and Ls lived long lives without them so ...
They don't make a huge improvement to a road car unless you get them stupidly hot often and this is a L we're talking about .
In a roadie more for show than go I suspect and not worth paying extra for IMO .

no!
instead look at some ferodo sports pads. I was running them with my EJ turbo wagon and made the brakes 'slightly' less dangerous, but the best standard l-series brakes ive EVER felt.

I got some second hand slotted for my L and for me it made a huge difference. After a fuild flush of the whole system with the std disc, when at 80 slamming on the brakes the car would slow down and the calipers could not lock the wheels. When i got the slotted, doing the same thing the wheels would lock. Also going down kalamunda hill with the std disc, at the end they would be soft but with the slotted i still had brake power left.
But that just me.

I sold my set to Dann when i upgraded to the 5stud stuff. They are quite cheap. New ones are $150 for a shop i know. well that was when i priced them a few months ago and i think that for the pair, not sure.
