Electric windows and other things...

I have a question; How do you get the power windows out of an MY? At U-pull it northern yard yesterday for the first time (dads shout after he smashed my last wing mirror off with the recycling bin the other night)

I got what I wanted and a few other nice bits and pieces. There was even an earlier MY with EA71 intact! Then the last MY we saw was a white 4 door sedan. Sun roof, power steering system complete with extended t/stat housing, air con intact and 4 power windows all still there. It also had a 5 speed gearbox  although only 2WD I had no idea MY 5 speed's even existed!

I really wanted the power windows, but it was over an hour in on a 35 degree day, we were in the sun with armfulls of parts already and over an hour drive home. I tried to get one power window out but I couldn't figure out how to do it! Unbolted everything I could find but with the glass still attached the motor/etc wouldn't come out. So, how do you get it out? Not that I'll be going to the northern yard again any time soon, but if I ever come across another power setup I'd like to know how to get it out

After giving up on the windows and about to leave I quickly nabbed the carbie because it looks really great and clean, I'm having issues with mine at the moment so if this clean one works it's going in.

Telling everyone about the p/steering complete setup in case any Adelaide members want to go and get it. I closed the doors as well so the power windows don't get damaged too badly

You need to take the glass off the motor and all the 10mm bolts you can see. the motor also needs to be wound all the way down. :) Also can you find how much they want for the power steering? As i would be keen. If you have any dramas pm your email address and i can send some pics as i have Claudia in ten thousand parts and could show you the motors, etc.

Yep, two wires and a battery will do this for you. Pull the plug for the electric motor and use the two wires to trigger the motor into action from the battery. This will allow you to position the window where you need it to undo the two window retaining bolts on the regulator, then the glass will be free.

From here wind it down all the way, undo all the bolts on the door then with some manoeuvring you'll get it out through one of the holes in the door panel...

Simple once you've got it worked out ;)

Cheers

Ok cool, will know for next time I see power windows up for grabs
Matt I couldn't tell you how much they want for the p/steering setup, I wasn't thinking of taking it since I didn't have the time, tools or patience in that heat. Won't be going to the north yard again any time soon either, it's about 50km from where I live unfortunately :(
