Good and suitable for a 1982 car and I really like it
Goona be an excellent driving trip tomorrow.
P.S. I also found Marianne Failfull - A childs adventure and Broken English.
Go the cassette player
I don't want to put a kybosh on things but I hope the cassette player doesn't turn A childs adventure and Broken English into spagetti

Thinking positive and I will be very POed if 1982 with a Bullet gets sliced as it is really my original from 1982.
Childs adventure and Broken English are also originals from the era but I have CD's for those.
Looking forward to some Rock (as it used to be)

Added black sharpie marker to the buttons on my stereo with the brightest blue light, which I consider glare for night driving.

My death rattle seems to have nearly disappeared after many weeks of daily driving.
Could possibly be that plus the 40W-70 oil I'm running. :???:

One of my cabin air vents is jammed. :(
I can't select the button to put all the air to the windscreen.
How can I fix this?

Bad exhaust fumes were entering the cabin, found the culprit to be the inner Gbox rubber shifter boot. Mine was ripped bad. Found a replacement at the wrecker for $10 and patched its small tear with a tube repair kit.

There must be more to it than that. I'd also be checking your exhaust for a hole in it or make sure your exhaust pipe pokes out the back of the vehicle properly. If there's a hole in the exhaust I'd put my money on it being on the top of the pipe where it bends to go over the rear drive shaft from the straight section. This is where mine rusted out and I've seen several the same.

For me, I jumped in Ruby Scoo on saturday to move her in the back yard. She wasn't happy - probably with me for not driving her since using my mate's liberty that I'm looking after. Yesterday I had a look and it turned out to be a spark lead that had come loose from it's clamp and had been touching the PS metal lines for some time. I guess the isolating effect of the lead had worn out and it was letting the spark head off through this weak point. Clipped it back in and she sounds and runs great again!

Cheers

Yeah that's the part I have not yet gotten to. Leaking from the headers. Had to reuse the gasket in the past and no surprise its leaking. Parts shop only had one in stock. Job for this WE :)

Not really "to my Suby", but I've spent the afternoon making my DIY Maxtrax. And here's the result - front and back:

And all this for less than $50, including a new hand-saw... Sure beats the $400 for a pair of the orange ones! :D

All I have to find out now is if they work, hummmm how would I do that??

Was pleasantly surprise to find how well this fitted :D

Sits flush as well!

Had this head unit lying around and nothing to do today so decided to take the old tape deck out of the new Brum. There was so much electrical tape behind there  Did away with all that and soldered+heat shrinked every joint, much neater. Also removed alot of excess loose wiring. Hardest part was finding a source of continuous power for the memory; found on a plug on the brake pedal switch wire which had a tiny little splitter box already, unused :D Just cut through the insulation and slip the copper strands into a slot, close the box and you have a memory wire.

Even nicer surprise when the CD player fitted all the way in and a 5 minute ally bracket at the back holds it rock steady. Works like a charm and sounds 10x better than the old unit. Next job is to fill in the gaps at either side, or slide it over to one side and put something useful in the space...that's next weeks job though.
Will it ever end!?

@ Silverbullet, Gee the interior of your wagon is in great nick. I think you could put a little more effort into fitting the CD player.

Bought a new attachment for the back of the Brumby.
Quintrex 390 Explorer, Quintrex Trailer and Yamaha 25.

I wish that was the interior of the wagon  It's the Brumby interior and yes it's in fantastic condition, plenty of red dust underneath though. And yeah more effort needed to make the CD player look nice but it was getting too warm out there in the sun today...

Quite a nice tinny you have there ;)

I bought four 27x8.5-14 A/T tyres from Nankang for $516, brand new. :)

They'll go on Battlewagon's old 14" Sunraysias after a wire brush, clean and repaint.
I'm looking forward to having at least the same ride height aired down to 15psi
as I currently have at 40psi with my 185/70R-14's.

I'll have to do a little trimming of the rear part of the front guard.
Maybe cut the inner front guard plastic liner, splice in a piece for a wider diameter opening.
I think one of my CV joints is already making noise. Has been for 12,000km?
Hope the CV doesn't die before I get to replace it.
Might take a CV or axle off Battlewagon's Touring wagon.

With my new ignition timing after a snapped belt
I noticed that my L Series got 9.2 L/100km on 98 octane
while on 91 octane my economy is about 11L/100km.

I thought my CV noise was the reason for poorer economy. (I'll fix that too)
The best economy I've got on 91 octane with the old belt was 9.5L/100km.
So about a 4% fuel economy improvement or 20-something extra kms per tank.

I don't have a timing light so I cant tell where my timing is set,
however it doesn't detonate in 3rd gear at 20km/h
so I could probably advance the timing another 1-2 degrees...
dunno if that would improve economy further.

The bridge I climb everyday,
I can usually accelerate 1-3 km/h uphill in 4th on 98 octane
where on that 91 octane I'm lucky if I don't deccelerate 1-3 km/h in 4th.
