so i want your opinions on which subaru is best i have a 6 month old and could do with a ute BUT the mercedes is starting to show old age so yea so whats your opinions ?

or save and import a baja

Owning a 6 month old Subaru....why would you want to know which car is best?

Just wondering.

Being a family car, I'd lean towards a newer car, like a Liberty or Forester. This way you gain a stronger body with better suspension geometry, which equals better handling. Depending on how new you go, you might also gain ABS and air bags.

The other factor is that there is more room in a later model Subaru.

i was thinking 02ish outback ( i like them ) but i hate all the mod cons like power windows leather seats abs air bags etc... the benz has that and honestly i think its overated

the missus is also insisting i need a ute for some reason

Can Baja's be imported ?

yes as long as i find someone with import licence ( which i find out on sunday ) otherwise id have to live with the car for 12 months before i brought it back the bonus being its a outback so the right hand drive conversion is as simple as a call to the local wrecker so it shouldnt be that expensive basically just pay the import tax, frieght and of course the guy with the import licence will charge a small fee

Why the Baja anyway? They are actually not a great car (having driven on in Canada for 3 months). Like a Lib wagon, but smaller on the inside, with no enclosed cargo space.

I think you will find the LHD -> RHD a head fcuk too.

Why the hate on safety features? With a young family, buy the best you can afford.

yea i probably wont import one i just really want one, its not that i hate safety features like they are great but in saying that i think the public rely on these features WAY to much look at my benz for instance the other week i was headed to the grandparents in law came down their street ( windy and always wet and slippery ) touched the brakes to go into the driveway and the abs light came on the wheels locked and i went into the drive way sideways all because id relied on it what would,ve happened if i were coming down there at the 80kph speed limit and that happened... merc,s are tough but it would,nt survive a tree or gully at that speed so im all for safety features they,ve helped me a few times but people rely on them to much id prefer an old brumby or L in the sense that i dont care if it gets puked in scratched or mistreated i know it,ll serve me well and i can fix it myself when it breaks... how ever in saying that id feel better knowing in a smash my baby is safe... idk this is harder then choosing tyres

yea the screaming child doesnt bother me its the nagging missus the gives me the shits is it legal to put a baby seat in a 2 seat ute... and the missus in the tray ?... however in sayig this shes heading for a foz gt

Go a Foz.. lots of room for a small fam and plenty on boot space for carting stuff around.. like prams and sh*t

I also remember those days. That was my first wife. I'm on my third wife currently (and very happy). My second wife decided to pass-away so I had no say in that.

My first is still a vivid nightmare on full moon nights.......pity I didn't have a one seat ute back in those days.........

Even the kids left homw as sson as they finished school. What about me I said? They said get out whilst you can.

Unfortunately it's not legal to have a kid in the front unless it's in a properly designed child restraint seat ( that has a proper ancorage point , which a brumby doesn't have!) which would literally put a child up against the dash board. Saying that I certainly wouldn't want my child sitting in such a position, and in your case ( No Offence ) why would you even want a six month old child in a ute anyway? I'm a father of a 3 yr old, and I won't put my child in the front seat of my brumby ute , its nothing against your driving abilities, just the odd drug or drunk driver you're unaware of..

Just my 2 cents ! Hope that doesn't offend anyone here!

As with what Brumby91 said, The Brumbys were comprehensively put through crash testing a few years ago by an Aussie university or some major authority and had the worst results for any car of that size/era.
Get the best protection you can afford for you and your family:)

Totally love the Brumbys but thats something to think about (same L'series)

as for the ute thing i asked if it were legal... just remember in all this i still have a 4 door so it,d only be an issue when that one breaks down.

And seriously if i were that worried about crash ratings etc id give up on subaru and go a 75 series landcruiser... theres no car safe enough to protect against a drink driver or hoon... thats why bullbars and airbags were made

I think I'd rather take my chances in a new Hyundai.............75's just fold around you, have a look at crash test cars on YouTube, bigger older and heavier aint stronger.
