Hey guys, My dad and I recently bought a 93 GX wagon and got it road worthy etc. It has a 2.2 out of a 93 GX automatic and the grearbox/diffs are out of a 98 Manual 2.5 Outback wagon and for a old car, it runs like a absolute dream.
Since ive got this car ive grown a love for soobs and im planning on putting a fat turbo on it ha. Ive done a fair bit of research on the net and the vibe im getting is that its best to do a ej20t conversion. But cause this car is such a 'mut' and made up of about 4 different subarus.
I was just wondering would it be possible to just put a turbo on the 2.2 already in it? seeing it already has a more heavy duty gearbox/diff in it. and if so, what else would I have to replace?
I would really appreciate anyones input, my dad is a mechanic but very old school and in his opinion if I wanna drive something that goes 'whoosh' I should drive a bus lol. So i need some outside advise.
Cheers Jordo

if you turbo a stock EJ22 you can only go low boost and you will need an aftermarket computer to stop the engine from going pop and never running again.

as long as the conversion from auto to manual was done well, putting an EJ20 turbo motor in wouldn't be a real problem.
either way you would need a computer, the turbo, the exhaust and all the associated bits to make it all work.

Good luck

With the price of a nice RS these days, my opinion would be that a conversion is not worth it.

Sell, and by a genuine RS (Wagon FTW!)
