Just saw this on ebay, it will be interesting to see how much it goes for. I can't imagine there would be too many of these popping up

The ports and compression are better than the std EA81 I think.
Best to buy the whole package and give it to Silverbullet for some love!

Wow, I didn't think these would create such a stir - this is now the third post about these carbies, one on each ebay thread and now this discussion.
If you read the questions he's offering the original long block for $100!! Some on there are asking about the heads and obviously don't know that the difference in the cam as I believe that the exhaust and inlet ports are the other way around to the standard EA81s... Correct?
I'd love to grab these and the engine for Sunnie the Brumby, but I just can't justify it at the moment, plus I'd have to get the owner's permission...
Cheers

thats correct Bennie the heads are different, the inlet valves and exhaust valves are reversed, they are bigger (mine were) the crank is different, the conrods are different, the pistons are different, the cam is different, and I believe the rocker gear and pushrods are different as well.
it is and EA81 but it is different
a very nice 100km/h in second gear different

That's what I thought.
Now the subaru hoarder is coming out in me

Not good when you can't afford it!

Dont know about the rods and then that but. Either way mine has been pushed up around the 8000 RPM and still pulling, thats when i got scared..... lol Very handy when some commo is trying to race you less gear changes. :P

EIGHT GRAND REVS!! Normal EA's rev like an old (standard) Falcon six and my 81's never really liked much more than five grand....
Their current price is $255 and need carby kits before use. I paid same money ten years ago or more and also needed kitting if that is an indicator to anyone of them holding value

No, you don't the twin carb engine, they will bolt up to normal single carb EA81 heads.
The spacing from head to head inlet ports is the same.

That sounds so awesome

Wish I could experience that one day...but I'm not about to fork out for this ebay manifold and try and find the bits for a twin carb engine...AND build it, had enough of that for a while
Oh and it's in QLD

Gaz is right is saying they will fit a standard EA81 but will never have the benefit of the full power that the original EA81S (not official code but most commonly used to describe the Twin Carb model) engine produces. The original EA81S does have a different Camshaft but apart from that the bottom ends are (except pistons in the turbo models) all the same. The EA81S was not available in the Vortex and was only produced between 1983 to 1984. It was sold in the Brat and Leone and mostly exported to Northern America. Due to the Camshaft config and grind this engine produced the most torque from the NA range.
I had a complete car (ex-japan) and although it was ok.. it was nothing special. I believe you get but power and torque from the Weber conversion. But saying this.. if you setup the EA81S with the right carby combo then you could have something pretty special. The EA81 engine is one of the most indestructible engines around (I have seen some pretty sad ones during the rally days) but all in all they were/are pretty strong.

Yeah , my twins went straight (after I kitted them) on my EA81 engine of normal Oz spec that was fully rebuilt just prior - 40 thou oversize bore, 16/56 Watson race cam. The meat that came off the heads had to be made up for by enlarging the manifold to head bolt holes of the manifold that's all. I have the kit numbers somewhere if needed just PM me.
Such a strong pull up highway long hills - I didn't dare do over the still pulling 140 - fuel economy did not change either for those concerned 8.5 - 9 per 100.
