would you buy a gen2 liberty with an EJ25?

the early ej25s have always scared me. I want a good reliable car, looking at afew gen2 RX wagons with the ej25 in them and around 2-250km.

i REALLY like the gen2 rx's i reckon theyre sexy. A motor swap, although easy, is out of the question.

cheers.

Why is an engine swap out of the question?
If the car is cheap enough I'd take a gamble on the EJ25, it'd probably be fine. If it fails, then an engine swap is as you say, easy.

Usually been fixed by that mileage, there was a roughish Gen 2 Outback on Gumtree for $1,700 a couple of weeks ago with half a million K's, might still be there.

I wouldn't have got another "real" 4x4... Oh, sorry, I thought we were finishing the sentance

I don't see the issue with the first batch of EJ25's. I remember a certain year having head gasket issues but I thought this was due to dud factory head gasket design or production... Personally I wouldn't be concerned about that model.

If you do need to drop in a new engine palm it off to guyph! Don't leave it with him for too long as it might come back with a turbo conversion and a bill or he'll part it out forgetting you wanted a new engine in it and not just the shell back :p

Cheers
