hey guys just a quick question, i bent the mustache bar yesterday on some rocks while i was out playing. can i bend it back rough enuf or does it have to be perfectly straight, ie a new one.??

Chuck another one on. They've got to be straight...

is it doin same stuff as el freddo's then ? He was tryin' to sort out a resonance he thought may be due to bent moustache bar

Im thinking that a deformed "moustache" bar will create a new and unwanted angle (if ever so slight) that the unis in the tail shaft won't like. Prob much more pronounced with lifted examples. Hence the drama with Bennys' wobbles. It maybe no coincidence then that from libertys onwards, the width, construction and bush orientation of rear diff Xmembers has changed.
Just throwing this out there. Thoughts please...

Have ruled this out! Driving with out the rear diff installed (and half of the prop shaft removed as well) the vibration is still there. It has decreased since replacing the spark plugs.

I'm guessing the bar hasn't had anything to do with it. But I would say that every time I was offroad in 4wd it would be bending or flexing quite a bit = less power to the wheels

While the old bent bar is out I'll be straightening it out and welding it to a straight one much like what RSR555 has done with Guyph's new unit I would rather be spinning a wheel or binding up a drive shaft than bending this bar again!

My thought is that uni joints really aren't that smart - a diff mounted on a sideways angle would not be an issue until the uni joints are trying to work beyond their tolerances. This is where you will get some odd behaviour and damage to the uni joints...

A badly bent bar would create issues I would imagine. I'm not going to let mine to get that bad.

Bennie, since you have removed rear driveline effectively and the prob still persists (much less so factoring new plugs etc.). See my post on your original thread, I'm still stumped.
Another thought is maybe your wagons body is twisted so much so from EJ22 torque and some serious driving. Maybe time for a new shell. Again just throwing this out there

Hehehe... I don't think Ruby's bent yet. Hopefully this won't happen for a few years to come! Otherwise it might have to be a roll cage to increase longivity by letting the suspension do all the work

Well I hope she aint, and yes a cage would be good- for all MY's and L's.
Still though breaking sh!# is fun, unless its a long (read expensive) tow home;)

theres no differance in the driving of it or any stranger vibrations or noises. its my only car at the min so i guess if i carnt find one at one of the local wreckers today, i'll find out if driving with it a bit bent does any damage....thanks for all answers guys
