Clunking/knocking sound when turning right?

Ive noticed a knocking or clunking sound (Gen3 Liberty) when i turn to the right and occasionally while driving straight, absolutely no noise when turning left.

At first i thought it might be the front right CV's but it doesnt seem to be an even clunking sound, and if it was CV's it would make the same noise turning left.

if anyone could give me some advise where to look it would be most helpful.

Generally CVs make noise when under stress and when turning right, your right wheel turns more to the right than your left wheel. This is an easy way to check without taking them out of the car which is no good. I'd stuck your head under and have a look at the rubber boots on the outer CV joint.. my guess is it's split and all the grease has gone.

I've had a right hand driveshaft outer cv make extreme noise in a straight line under load only.

No noise while coasting.

I would say CV boost as well. They are a pain! There is a chance the greese has dried up without the boot splitting, have seen that before. if The boot has split, try and make sure no dirt or rubble has gotten into it as well.

Happy 300 posts Gary.

Dying CV. I had these clunks for ages in my L - same thing. I put up with it without any issues other than my annoyance with the noise.

When I changed the CV shafts for new units with the EJ conversion the noise went with the old shafts...

Cheers
