Hi Guys, was looking to buy a 2006 Outback this week and found out the petrol engine has been filled with Diesel and driven for 100m till the car stopped. Car is with Insurance company to have damage looked at. Is it still worth looking at to buy?

I cant see why not.

The diesel shouldnt harm anything, it will just need to be flushed from the tank and fuel lines

100m ! Cannot see what 'damage' could be done. Insurance company should tell owner to take it to a mechanic, drain tank and refill with petrol for less than the exces amount on policy. Injectors may not be too happy - a clean should do the rick if just a drain and refill does not do the job.

it is a little painful getting the diesel out but it should just start again once the poison is out of the system. as I understand it the filter/s will need replacing as well.

Mine loved diesel...........In the sump lol, used to tick like a pig so I shoved 5L in the sump for 10-15 min of idling & it's run like a swiss watch ever since.
