Who ever said they were compatible...

I'm talking about L series seats into an MY. I got a couple from spike (cheers spike!:D) having heard on here they would bolt straight in...well they don't. The 4 bolt pattern is different in just about every dimension. Specifically, the worst difference is in the width.
The sliding rails on the L seats were wrong, so I took the ones off an MY seat and they will fit with a bit of easy fabrication, but the width between the two rails is far too wide to fit in the MY bolt holes in the car. So, what can I do?

I'm not giving up yet since I'm sure they will fit. Will I have to drill and tap some new holes in the floor? or is there an easier-less drastic solution?
Cheers

This procedure worked for Lib seats into L Series, might help your situation:
1. Separate seat backs from seat bases.
2. Separate seat cushion from lower seat frame (leave orig seat rails on the orig frame). Use whichever springs are in best condition.
3. Attach new (ie L Series for you) cushion to original (ie MY) lower frame
4. Fit new (L series) seat back onto hybrid cushion and frame.
That way you still have standard MY rails at the original width, bolting up to a standard MY floor. Don't try to create new mounting points on the floor unless you're a gun metal fabricator.
This method depends on the frames of the old and new seats being the same width, which might be the case even if the soft bits and the rails are different.

That's interesting, I'll have a look tomorrow and see if I can do it. Although I think the springs are actually embedded into the foam, like they put the springs in a mould and filled it with foam.

Well GOD that was spot on

the new cushions fit perfectly onto the old frames, just had to drill 8 holes for the new springs as well.
