i have the full ej driveline (from the same car as the engine) hubs/brakes so one day it might be legal. for the moment it wont
sa is a little relaxed unless noticed and stickered it wont be inspected and police wouldnt know what they are looking at when they pop the hood. i know of a guy whos been driving a mk1 escot with a sr20 turbo for 15 years unengineered.
No way it will ever be legal in SA!
As for being caught, is only an issue if (1) you happen to come across a mobile defect station where the inspectors are from Regency, working with Police Officers, or (2) involved in a smash that the SA Police Crash Investigation Unit are involved in - ie they forensically examine your car.
I know point (2) from experience, as they were involved in the investigation of my (at the time stolen) modified L-Series (see avatar). They wanted to understand how it reached the speeds it did whilst being pursued. Was ok, because the mods were all legal like.
Then it becomes a whole world hurt from an insurance, and third party viewpoint.
Also note if you do insure it, you will lying to an insurance company, (as it will not be roadworthy), which can have longer term ramifications in later life.
