Just arrived in Queenstown this morning and i'm completely blown away with the amount of Turbo'd Legacy's/ B4's. Seen plenty of gen3 B4's in absolute rats#*t condition and have only seen one N/A legacy all day. Plenty of 'omega' touring wagons. (L series) :D

The south island in general is absolutely chocka with subarus, particularly old ones. In all honestly 9 out of every 10 brumbys still on the road live in the south island. As for newer models, they are plentiful in both islands, to the point where you struggle to give them away sometimes.

After last snow season I thought Hotham was the subaru capital!

You got a shipping container sorted? I've got a list

Cheers

I was in Dunedin in 2009 and was also blown away by how many B4's were getting around. I thought it must have the same few that I was seeing so started keeping track, there was at least 15 DIFFERENT B4's getting around that area, and its not exactly the highest population in NZ.

haha yeahh El Freddo, I wishh! Theres plenty of highly sought after subaru bits over here including original L series fog lights and standard 4 stud wheels that i haven't ever seen before! I've noticed that probly 80% of cars are turbo'd.. like terrano I's, Hilux Surfs, legacy's and newer 4wd's. Having an absolute ball over here at the moment. Just got back from going on the shotover jetboat. Interestingly, it runs 2 buick V6's equating to about 550HP. Seen a few brumby's in immaculate condition and outbacks with colour coordinated bumpers-panels. Theres a whole taxi company that just use Gen4 outbacks and they thrash the hell out of them. Its mind blowing that after a 2 1/2 hour flight, things could be so different. If anyone is thinking of travelling to NZ, i HIGHLY recommend it :)

Due to NZ'd import laws, they are able to get ex-japan cars over and licence them without to many issues. This is mainly due to their car manufacturing unlike ours where the big boys in Canberra are trying to protect it over here. It means we get to miss out on some awesome models :(

Yeah, I've seen Gen 3 B4's over here for a measly NZ$7000 and the NZ dollar is only .8 of the Australian dollar! Tomorrow the girlfriend and I are going tandem on the canyon swing, then bungee jumping perhaps. Have taken plenty of photos, mostly of cars but got a few of the complimentary scenic shots as well. :) Don't really feel like coming home for a while though.. Sitting on the balcony of the resort, Beer in hand, staring at the Remarkable mountains is pretty hard to beat. Will upload a few photos when i get home, just to show the condition of some of the 'exotic' subaru's over here. haha

Cheers, Tom

I was just about to write a reply flaming you for suggesting that there is such thing as a L series hatch.

I then realised that you must have meant the L Series Coupe.
