Aftermarket Cruise Control

Post by stephendean » Fri Mar 31, 2006 11:03 am

I am thinking of fitting an afteramarket cruise control to my "L" series subby. basicly getting lazy and I am having trouble over long distances with my right leg on the pedal(lots of pain). So I am wondering if there are any systems that people can recommend. I have noticed a few on ebay like the "Auscruise by Autron Model AC4400" and the "Cruise Control by Command CA200". Now the sellers reckon you need an electronic speedo. Does an 89 "L" series with MPFI has this? or are there better syastems to look out for on e-bay? Or should I try and change the spring tension on the go pedal?

EDIT: before anyone noticed on this site I have replaced left with right otherwise it is to hard to drive

I have an AP60 on my RX and on my Dads RX and they both work great but being turbos i have added a vacuum pump to maintain a good vacuum source. They come complete with a magnet and pick up you mount on the tailshaft for speed sensing. Having an EFI version of an L series means you have a speed sensor in the speedo but you are better off mounting the supplied speed sensor anyway.

I disagree. the AP60 relies on those magnets. AP150 will do a better job as will the autron. other brands to look at are Rostra and SCS.

both are used in OEM applications and both are VERY reliable with safety features built in.

I fit cruise control for a living and I have have problems with the AP60.
