need to shift pisser bottle in MY for EA82

Post by steptoe » Sat Jan 01, 2011 9:48 pm

A small item to think about in my plans for EA82 or some sort in my Brumby is the pisser bottle gets in the way of dizzy and I am gonna need to clear its location, and get a basic old holden style water box to fit somewhere out of the way

Has anyone installed an L Series bottle in L Series fashion in an MY ? They sit right hand side up front - a long trip from screen - under the mudguard with just a filler neck exposed under bonnet. I have a bottle and also rear Twagon one as well to tinker with.

I have seen someone fitted bottle to jack location but I have filled it with air box and gas converter and reserving lovebox for the water injection pumps inverter.

No answers from you lot in three weeks. Unusual. For those similarly concerned I have extracted digit and lifted bonnet to find an EA81 still there with about 460,000 km on it.

Found that the pisser bottle bracket is actually , conveniently bolted to the inner side strut tower with a pair of M6 bolts. i expected spot welding to the degree not really necessary.

Found a piece of checker plate al:):)minum made it 110 x 60mm, drilled holes 75mm apart to suit bracket that goes with bottle, about 27mm centres top to bottom hole with one elongated to assist fitment as per factory. If you need to copy me make it 73mm apart to avoid brake pipe rubbing on bottles resting position (working position too ) coming out of firewall. The motor just sits on factory heater tap bracket at the bottom so have used foam packing. I'd suggest a copy or MKII, or adjustment would be better off lifting new bottle position about 5mm higher so as to clear heater tap bracket. Sits in same plane just further back and should clear dizzy and its part of the LHS hide.

This backet sits bottle as far back as possible keeping original bottle, wiring and hose outlet same , no need to adjust.

Yes, worked it out on my own, just posting thinking out loud up here to share with anyone in same predicament. Find that sometimes I spend more time in the planning and thinking than the action actually takes - this is one occasion.

I also posted up more thoughts, also unaswered BTW, on coil relocations as with everything between MY and L stuff - it's mirrored, or works in reverse , the coil sides swap.

Saw the answer in someone pics - problem solved without moving coil - just a long coil HT lead :)
