Hey guys.. ive come to the conclusion that ive blown a head gasket on my ej22.
It doesnt over heat as of yet... but the radiator overflow bottle keeps filling and overflowing... and also the inside of the radiator chamber is slightly milky (not much but its there)
Ive replaced the thermostat and seeing what happens from there but im pretty sure its the head gasket.
Where abouts can i get a new set of head gaskets in perth? last time i checked they were damn expensive...
It **sses me off because this is my 3rd engine within a year :(
1st was due to crank pulley stripped keyway and we welded it once then eventually gave way.
2nd was due to.. well not much in the end..
and now the 3rd is giving up on me :P

Well if any of the perth boys could help me out with the head gaskets that would be great :)
cheers
Bob

Bit of a bad luck eh..

Thought EJ22 was tough engines shouldnt have H/G problems! In my memory for EJ25's headgasket aftermarket is around $80-$100 and should be the same price for EJ22.
Cheers

Cooling systems can be tricky to have bleed properly, could be an air pocket or other simple issue.
Before jumping to conclusions, get the head gasket idea confirmed by a TK test. Any radiator shop should be able to do it and actually confirm if you have a head gasket issue.

True True... well ive spent an hour today at a radiator shop testing the rad cap and thermostat... so i might pop back in there and get him to do the TK Test to see what comes up... im guessing it is HG because i mean you have prob heard me on here going on about how gutless this ej22 is :P it would kind of make sense now

Bob an intermittent crank rattle isn't a small thing :) or at least that what it sounds like.

have you checked under the oil cap thats a more reliable way of telling if the head gasket has failed

how long do you want to wait for this head gasket kit as Ebay US has some nice deals at the moment. (some include new head bolts as well)

http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_trk ... p=15&_sc=1

while the kits are cheap the shipping can look prohibitive, when you price a kit here and head bolts it still works out cheaper from the US.

as for quality isn't everything made in China these days :)
