heater over flow hose
heater over flow hose
Hey all quick question ive had my heater go on me so have had to disconnect it from the engine, now what i have done is ive used the heater overflow hose which sits under the passger side and comes out the firewall, ive used this to connect the 2 pipes that come from the engine, so the coolant flows still, was just curious if this hose would be able to take the pressure of the coolant as it is not used in an underpressure situation, just trying to work out if i should buy another hose to use in this situation so i can drive car till i can get heater sorted cheers
should be okay, as the heater core and all the hoses related are stull under the full pressure of the cooling system. Common problem and a common fix!

One has to remove dash - first time 'round can reduce a man to tears.
Do a search, I recall someone did an write up of all the tricks to reducing the pain. ??Steptoe

Hey yeh I realize it's a dash out situation but considering it's hot I font really need heater haha just need car to be running for now till I can get dash out and find the problem. A friend of mine told me that I could just cap the 2 hoses that go into the firewall for the heater and that it doesn't need to be returned into the motor. Can I do this? I thought the coolant ran constantly thru the heater core but he was saying that it only goes thru core when the tap is open or something haha I'm not full on with the heater side of things yet . But in any case bought some new heater hose to connect both outlets from engine thus disconnecting the heater hoses that go into firewall will do that tonight unless I can cap those 2 hoses haha no idea I need a flow chart or diagram of how it works
join them, dont plug them. Im sure coolant is always running thru the heater core.
surely the waterflow would be disrupted if they were plugged. seeing as tho the water pump only pumps one direction.
just join them to be sure, seen them joined in heaps of cars with blown heater cores.
and yes, you will cry when it comes to replacing the core hahahahaha
