Hello,
Just wondering if anyone knows of a good type of intercooler (air to air) that will fit into my 1987 RX turbo leone?

Thanks,
Marcus

I used a GC8 wrx I/C. Needed to hack the spare tyre holder a bit & make up the piping/hoses etc & of course bonnet scoop

None of them work because there is no bonnet scoop on your car.
Unless you are planning to do something horrid like hack a hole in the bonnet and install one...

Maybe consider the WAIC from RS Liberty's - they work really well for moderate boost applications and can be fitted with only minor mods to the car.

I agree with Andrew go for a liberty water air intercooler and if you want to be fancy Alfa 33 and Alfasud Coupes have a nice auxilliary radiator or a motorcycle or quadbike radiator mounted up front will work great as it only cools the intake charge without excessive restriction to the original radiator,Plumb that up to a liberty RS WAIC for maximum benefit as a standalone system.
Front mount intercoolers unfortunately have excesively long runner requirements compared to a top mount as everyone has posted photos of,but when you have a water cooled cooler and only water has to take the long travel path it can be the best of them all, short IC pipes and front cooling potential without the negative aspects.

+1 for Andrew's comment

Buy a complete set up (rad, pump, hoses and misc brackets and pipes) from a RS owner upgrading for a front mount. Expect to pay $50-150 - try ebay or the RS Liberty forum - they come up pretty often.

Is an interesting install that if done right will no cutting and only 2 drill holes to mount. Was one one the most satisfying jobs I did on my L.

Do a search, install has been covered previously

Yeah the WAIC was good.

This was mine

I had a GT Forester turbo on mine, which made the piping a little easier, but if you plumb it like Timmo or like the second pic in my first post
