EA82 front pulley choices

Just curious if anyone has tinkered with changing the front pulley between the plain old metal one and the other with rubber bonded harmonic balancer style of the efi and later carb versions.

The plain old metal one will never fall apart like the rubber bonded ones but curious to know if any benefit found or even the theory behind the dfference would not hurt.

Found some to have small roll pins to locate in one of the many holes in timng belt drive sprocket, also a fat pin that must locate in the bigger keyway slot of the same drive pulley. bashed a pn from a dud multi rib balancer into a plain metal one, found the pins top side needed a flat filed onto it to fit snugly into drive sprocket

My '90 wagon was 4eat, and it had the rubber ring, my '89 RX is a 5 spd and it has the solid pulley, Im wondering if its not transmission related, flex plate vs flywheel? Both cars ea82t if it could make a difference.

Might be onto something there Mark, the EA82T in my GLTA was auto, came with damper style, and think maybe when I think about it the EA82 with manual or stick shift was a plain old pulley. I did get an EA82T with flywheel and clutch hanging off the back with harmonic on front - all the subtle changes betwen markets and year models - who nose?
