Thought it would be a good idea to create a sticky register of those with experience of each engine classification of our Subarus.
The idea is simple to give anyone assistance via PM's or help with the SEARCH function - search by username.
By assisting with the search function we might reduce duplication of same questions that sometimes rise annually
Just list the variations of the engine if there were any. And maybe keep it as a register not a thread chatter (gentle hint)

El Freddo - Stock 1988 EA81 in a brumby. Great little donk - I reckon its got more potential than the EA82. Certainly easier to work on!
Cheers

Pav - Stock EA81 wagon d/r - I literally put this car through hell, sat at redline all day, overheated a few times, i never did any work to it when I got it (except servicing). The motor never died, the suspension and body did though.
2nd EA81 wagon s/r - Same as above, took it everywhere and it never failed and I only replaced the thermostat and carby. Demise of this car was a yellow sticker. Motor still ran perfect.
In my opinion, they seem to last forever even when you buy em at 300,000kms, and obviously because less things to go wrong with em. Although they are kinda gutless, they're still better than a diesel. Also extremely good on fuel, better than my EJ.
Bush mechanics are great with these engines
