Subaru Pop Quiz

While doing stuff on the weekend started to think about other stuff (

figure that sentence out)… Anyway, I though lets test the board members with a series off insignificant questions to test the knowledge (and sometime useless knowledge) of some of us.
So what I was thinking is obscure questions like…
1) What is the largest size bolt diameter (in mm) on an L series? And where is it located?
If you can answer that they maybe the follow up question should be something like…
2) Is the largest size bolt diameter (in mm) on an L series the same for other Subaru’s? And if not then what is?
3) Then if we are asking for the largest then… What is the smallest size bolt diameter (in mm) on an L series? And where is it located?
So who can answer these? And do you have any other quirky little questions… OR is Jaffa just loosing it

Jaffa I have no doubt you've pole vaulted past losing it and gone on to lost it
but I think it's a good idea, now we all need to think of some obscure questions.
And maybe even some answers.

LOL
and I know a few of the answer to the above just though i would give some ppl some time to have a crack at it. I am sure that i (and other) will easy have a few more to add)

would it be the bolt on the crank pulley? 22mm head
ill even hazard a guess that its still the biggest bolt
smallest bolt, let me think about that one for a bit? i know theres a few with 8mm heads but theres goitta be some smaller ones somewhere

Crank pully's hardly a bold though is it?
Would the biggest be the bolts that go through the rear swing arm bushes? M16? Can't think on an MY but they're M16 on an L.
As for the smallest, are they the bolts that hold the Handbrake Cable Support Bracket to the Lower Control Arm? They'd have to be M4.

the bolt that holds the crank pulley on has definately gotta be a bolt
the one going through the front diff mount is m18 but that steps down to m10 for the nut (14mm head) so i guess that dosent count as a bolt though?

would the castle nut on the front wheels holding the front driveshafts in place count as the biggest nut?

how about the longest bolt.. anyone know that one?

the bolt from the transmission to the motor... although this answer could change depending on how big ur lift kit is...

That's not a bolt, it's a stay rod.
I'd say the longest bolt on a stock L series would also be the diff hanger bolt. Those ones holding up the engine crossmember are what I'd call studs, they don't have a hex head and are retained by a knurl/spline.
To properly answer Jaffa's original questions....
1) The largest bolt is the crank pulley bolt for sure. Don't ask me why I know this part well.....
2) I think the crank pulley bolt is the same for an MY, definitely just as big on an EJ motor.
3)The smallest bolt on an L? Well I suppose it would be an earth bolt under the dash somewhere... I'm sure I've needed a 6mm socket under there before so would that be M4? The little screw that holds on the choke knob in an MY would have to be the smallest fastener on the vehicle, but that doesn't count for an L...
Hope you don't mind, but I've just thought of a harder pop quiz:
1) What is the firing order on an EA81 (easy question to get started)?
2) What is the diameter of the clutch plate on a 2WD EA81?
3) What's the minimum scrap thickness on a rear disc rotor from an RX Turbo?
4) How many splines are on the inside of an inner front CV cup for a WRX?
5) How many blades are on the exhaust wheel of a VF10?
Answer all those correctly and I can make a harder pop quiz! BTW, they are all things I actually know off the top of my head, not stuff I've gone looking for.
Hopefully someone will ask a question thats really really hard soon, I like Subaru quizzes :P

6.5mm
4) How many splines are on the inside of an inner front CV cup for a WRX?

First one's definitely correct

Know the firing order of a Chev smallblock?
I'll give you the second one, it works out closer to 7 7/8" in imperial but you're there in my book.
3, 4 and 5 are wrong though

4) 25 splines?

EDIT - just reread my own question and realised I described it wrong.
Yes Baron I think it's 25 splines, what I meant to ask was how many between gearbox and cup - 30 splines.
I suck at this :P

longest bolt would be one of the ones holding the engine together?

Aren't they studs too though? EA81's have studs, EJ's have bolts, don't know for sure about EA82's...

im not too sure on that one
i just know there was some long bolts in a crate with my spare ea8t bits

longest bolt would be the one that holds the gearbox casings together near the front diff
