New to Subaru's but thought I might like to get a late 80's/early 90's Brumby to play with.
Just wondering what sort of issues I should be looking for when purchasing one? Any info/suggestions are welcome.

usual car stuff, oil, water, rust bla bla.
also check the cv's.
other than that the old ea81 is a pretty bulletproof motor. goodluck!

The main aim (for me) if buying a brumby is to find one with minimal rust - and not worry about the mechanical condition as the mechanics are easy to replace - with something newer - than it is for me to replace rusted sections of body work.
That said, look for rust in the following places:
Bottom of windscreen both sides,
A pillar from below the door hinges up to above the door line, and also below this same area under the vehicle;
front sections of the doors on the inside - check with door open as you look in the A pillar hinge area;
The wall between the tray and the cap - notorious for rust!
Fire wall and spare wheel well - along the seam in this area can be prone to rust.
Rear wheel wells.
That just about covers it. Just keep an eye out for the usual things when it comes to interior and mechanicals...
Cheers
