I picked this up yesterday, its an '89 XT 6. These cars here are getting extremly rare, and highly desired for 5 lug conversions, ej trans mount conversions and such. That was my plan based upon the asking price...but when I checked it out I was amazed.

It has 168k on the clock and runs out very well. 6 cyl, awd 5 speed w/diff lock, fully loaded with all the options and very few issues to deal with, foremost will be a clutch and some electrical issues not affecting how she runs.
Cheers, mark

The XT6 Vortex was the first Subaru to have the 6 cylinder in them

effectively a EA82 with 2 extra cylinders. The next Subaru to have the 6 was the SVX.
Damn you Mark

nice one to add to the collection

Hey Johnny T, this one will be kept stock. Its a nice driver, i like the added power of the h6 and the feel of the car. My plans are to fix some little electrical issues, service the engine, timing belts etc, and work on the apperance of the car. Hopefully new paint next year.
Good luck geting yours on the road.

It's a ER27

it uses the same pistons from the EA82.. so can you just imagine rebuilding it with EA82-T pistons and putting some sort of forced induction

Thanks AR, as Paul said its an ER27. It was a good find, wish I could do this more often.I picked it up last night and was going thru some paperwork today at lunch, new timing belts and water pump, new cat and muffler ( the car is too quiet ) new alternator and tires and they are digging out more service records for me.

Poking around the car today I discovered the ecu and test plugs in the trunk
mounted under the package tray. Thought that was strange but when you tilt the steer column the instrument cluster moves with the column and independantly of the dash. Need to read the owners manual, there are so many buttons and slides and such everywhere. If it suddenly rains it may take awhile to find the wiper switch

Do your Vortex's have 1 single wiper mounted in the middle also?

Yep.. It's odd to watch that wiper work :S
I know what you mean about the test plugs.. now I want you to find the ECU
