should i try replace them with a younger subaru seat (or generic seats)

or re-trim the factory brumby seats?


dont you sit fairly high with "other seats"? (ie. wrx seats)

would any of you 'master of trades' know approx the cost of re-trimming the seats?

I got some seats re-trimmed years ago, costed me about 400 bucks for cloth and new foam but that was a really good deal.

L series seats bolt straight in, are cheap, and a good upgrade over standard MY ones. Touring wagon ones are best.

WRX or Liberty ones are much nicer again but require welding mods to fit and do sit a fair bit higher but it's acceptable unless u are 7 foot tall.

well I don't know about replacement with another type of seat but I do know that you definately have to shop around when it comes to reupholstering as I just had my Brumby seats repaired with some new side panels and one seat base and squab swapped over due to the foam and a couple of springs being broken. All up it cost me $180 and that was using my material from the centre of the seat and the upholsterer unpicked the panels and stiched the good panels up.
The cost is mainly labour and at $65-$90 per hour the dollars soon mount up

I can highly recommend 'up-grading' to Forester seats (I have done this).
As Andrew T says it is a welding job - but they fit super and the comfort you import into the Brumby is simply brilliant.
Mine trim wise look like they were intended to be the originals! and you get with the driver side the adjustable squab and both enjoy the armrest.
If you pm me your email address - I will glady email you images of the seats fitted in my truck and of the method I have used to fix into the original floor fixing points.
Its fiddly but do-able and deffo worth while.

Plus its kinda Scooby dna to use seats from a foz.........

'We' have had L Series seats in Brumby in the past. From memory they did not go straight in bolt for bolt but was easy enough. L Series seats are now old. My L seats were in good nick but wire suports under cushion soon started to cut into the sponge instead of support.

Have sat in Lib seats in an L and had to be told I was sitting a bit high to notice at first. Am not 7 foot tall either ...6'1 3/4"

If you happen to chance upon MX5 seats they are light, about same size and bloody cozy, ask price about $500 a pair by those in the know BUT look like a seat that will fit up nicely without being too bulky too high.....
