Jumping sound in 98 Forester?

Hi,

I have noticed this jumping sound in my 1998 Manual Forester.
It mainly occurs when driving over 70 for longer than 15-20 mins, when I slow down and go into 2nd or 3rd gear. In 4-5th gear its fine!
On hot days its worse but happens in all conditions.
I have shown 3 mechanics and none can find then problem. One mentioned it could be the gear box another said hydrolics?

Please help or reccomend a Subaru expert who could help me find the problem. Thanks

Fez

Are your tyres exactly the same size?
Uneven tyre sizes, even just alot of wear to some tyres can cause bind up in the Gearbox.

Will check out the tyres.
Know any good mechanics who specialise in Subaru's in Melb?
