Hey guys im lookin at getting a 2006 forester xt awd....how do the autos go performance wise compared to the manuals??? i was after a manual but i cant find one i like...and when i do its an auto lol i was suprised at how many r autos....would an auto still go hard and sound good??

If anyone out there has an auto and can share some info it would be much appreciated

The autos are good offroad(xt manual has no low range) but pretty average for onroad performance.

I have a H6 outback (auto) and it is awfull if you want to beat other cars from the lights, a std outback manual is just as quick. Also the way it changes up and down the gears annoys me so I would love to do a manual conversion but I don't think if a d/r 5 speed will survive with the h6 in front of it and a 6 speed would be average offroad without low range.

Thats my 2 cents.

Hey emmo86!

I've got a Forrie XT auto MY07...

I reckon it is pretty good of the line, you know... I've driven a standard 2.5 manual and let me tell you, there are 2 or 3 worlds of difference in my opinion.

Yes, they do take a couple seconds to come alive, but once the turbo lag is gone (about 3500rpm, they really go well!

I've also driven a manual WRX and that's another 2 worlds apart. Surely a manual XT would be better of the line, but the autos are not that bad. Just whack it on POWER and, huh, power on!

Cheers,
Pedro.
