Recently I was in a workshop that had a really clean Gen 2 wagon and noticed lots of STi bits all over it .
The most curious think was some kind of thin cooling core designed to fit underneath the bonnet scoop possibly to look like an intercooler , even had STi painted on it .
Maybe it was an oil cooler , don't know .

Yeah ive seen that before.
Top mount intercooler was replaced with a front mount intercooler, and an oil cooler was added underneath the scoop where the tmic once sat

i wouldnt think an oil cooler in that place would be that good - as soon as you turn the engine off, oil would go back down in to the pan, then when you start the car again, you'd have to pump the oil up in to the cooler before anything would happen. or would some sort of check valve work?

The thing was that it was an NA car/engine .

if it was an oil cooler i recon it would produce unwanted heat under the bonnet
