Brumby Y-pipe wanted

Post by smiles » Tue Mar 23, 2010 12:59 am

If anyone in Perth is getting rid of a Brumby/MY engine pipe with catalytic converter I would be keen to buy it.

Many thanks.

Isn't the L series engine ea82 a bit wider than the ea81 and I mean at the exhaust outlets because I was looking for a pipe for my brumby with no cat and they only had an L series at the wrecker and he said it wouldn't fit

The rear end of the y-pipe on the L series won't fit without a lift I believe, because the alignment is slightly different getting around the gearbox crossmember.
The distance between exhaust ports should be the same because the casting of both the block and head on the EA82 are just modified EA81 parts...

Will fit, does fit. I have a L series fitted on mine (not lifted..I am running 14 inch rims but lower profile tyres than stock so ground height is still factory), the only difference was the cat `shell' was slighty larger (possibly b/c it has an oxygen sensor bung for FI) which made it pretty tight.

And yes, it has a slightly bigger tube od.

It was a cheap and cheerful mod being suggested in here some years ago, bolt off, bolt on. Some thought the EA81 revved better with the bigger EA82 Y pipe fitted.
