it is called a baja and was made for the American market only :( damn left hand drive

The Subaru Baja (pronounced ba-ha) was a light-utility, all-wheel-drive, four passenger, four-door vehicle manufactured from 2003-2006 by Subaru.

if you have the money and you want to put a brumby tray on the back of an l series yes it could be done (it would cost a pretty penny)

more from here on the baja

and a picture of a blue one

many images of the baja

This would be my one to complete: Two door 5 seater 6x6 wheel drive

Anything is possible if you've got pockets that are deep enough!

Awesome work for 30 minutes in photoshop Toonga! While it wouldn't be hard to do, the issue from that image is that the rear passengers would be riding with a rear wind screen on their heads. There needs to be a rear cab section for their head space... Like a hatch that's a little further back without the opening door...

Importing a Baja and coverting to right hand drive would be less hassle I reckon!

Hehehe... I hadn't thought about that!

It isn't hard (been using photoshop since 5.0) if i didn't have to pick my son up from school I would probably still be sitting tinkering

this took me around 8 hours I started out with a linux penguin and the one image that is the background and played with photoshop, jasc animator and premiere pro

and sorry mods and admin yes it has nothing to do with subaru but it won me an arguement

This is a reasonably accurate representation of the end result of grafting a Brumby rear section into an MY wagon, using areas of the wagon and Brumby panels patchworked to make the final structure.

About an hour's work in Corel photopaint 12 and Paint Shop Pro 4.1 (can't beat this version)...

An MY baja rather nice and well done on the way it turned out

if you could get ahold of a brumby that was this long boy you could have some fun and it is a real car not a photochop

Subaru were just plain - "alternative lifestyle" for not making an L Series hoot . Possibly a basic early gen Lib would have been even better .

A real Ute only has two seats , expressly designed not to house those that disturb the peace . Well , after everything's official that is ...

i had a look at the bajas, they are cool but an L series style one would be much cooler. Dual Cab brumby, can always hope i guess.

2coupedup: that would be awesome if you could, that sounds like a very sweet build.

nah if you look closely you can see where the l series doors have been shopped onto the brumby and you can actually see the brumby/brat door right at the front of the l doors

plenty more anomalies in this photo

Phizinza (from offroading subarus) made that blue/brown chop i believe. looks Real dodgey. Ldoors on MY. would have been a quikie.

subie boys FTW!!! that looks awsome very nicely done. im thinking of this as my next project, seriosly.

i was going to build a L touring wagon dualcab, but after seing the photochop, looks hell dodgey. and the headrooms an issue too.

toonga, the 2door idea is sweet, but the long tray aswell makes it look extremely weird though.

The main difficulties in extending the floorpan, is that the car has to be classed as a new vehicle and has to comply with current low volume production rulings, AND you have increased wheelbase meaning bigger turning circle, longer tail shaft, very little rampover angle (clearance in the middle when going over a crest). There are other issues too, like fuel lines, wiring, interior trim, side glass etc... At least on a Brumby, you wouldn't need to change the handbrake cable. LOL

Alternatively, with a ute section grafted onto a wagon or coupe body, it's only a simple body modification and will only need a Blue Plate to make it all legal...
