I've heard of people trying to force about 13 PSI into them - they don't tend to last too long like that. Just a small amount of extra boost, bigger exhaust and a good IC will see reliable improvement.

If you want big power, it will be easier and cheaper in the long run to do an EJ20T conversion, IMO.

I ran 10psi for over a year with no i'll problems. And when the headgasket blew from a dodgy fan wire, the pistons were fine.

Saying that, i wouldn't push the stock engine and ecu past 10psi if you want it to last any amount of time. I also always ran 98 while i had it at 10.

I cant say exactly how effective the intercooler was because i upgraded to a TF035 and 2.25" dump pipe at the same time. I have seen a dyno graph of before and after top mount intercooler on an EA82T and there was a nearly 10ft.lb off torque increase at about 3600rpm. This can be put down to an increase in ignition timing because of the cooler air charge

I used the stock pump and for coolant i used the same stuff i use in the engine. Pure water has the best heat capacity but i like the anti corrosion protection of the coolant.

I've got a heat transfer and cooler but am looking for a pump for it.

I ran my EA82T with 17psi. I have an WAIC, the engine had about 16000kms on it after full reco and lasted that way for about 12months before it let go. I didnt drive it at full boost everywhere during that time but i gave it a boot full every now and then.

I ran 14PSI for over 3 years on my RX. It was fitted with a WRX air to air IC.

12 PSI is ok provided you have an IC.

I`ve had two RX`s and ran both of them on 15psi for years without out any problems. Had a TT Legacy AIR/AIR intercooler, dont bother fitting an EJ just for reliabilty reasons as they will give you just as many if not more problems as the EA in the long run. Just dont expect to turn the boost up on tired old head gaskets and expect them to last for ever. ;)
