while i was scavenging parts for my powersteer conversion at a wreckers near my place, they had a rolled touringwagon, so naturally i went right over it and was excited to discover that it has a Limited-slip rear!

I'm strapped for cash at the moment, but i intend upon buying it. when i do what sort of a price should i be looking to spend?

It depends on whether they reslise it is a LSD... I wouldn't tell them and might get it cheap, but you should pay no more then $250. If the wreckers think it is an open you should get change out of $100.

People pay up to $400 for those but it's likely the wrecker won't know it's true worth.
Otherwise, not sure how honest you are...but u could try ripping the sticker that says "LSD" off and smearing some grime over it. They will probably ID it as a standard old diff and charge alot less :) I didn't say that, somebody else must be using my computer.

Agreed. These are getting so rare I'm thinking of getting some kind of locking nuts to make sure the two I have both stay in my wagon where they belong!

Normally it would be RX Turbo Leone sedan, they're rare/hard to get/come by.

I've just recently bought VLSD for my Liberty only done 80,000kms (Jap import) for 250 bucks.

That's crazy! I bet it wasn't in 'as new' condition either...

I should've thought about it earlier, I've seen heaps of legacys over here (US), I'm sure they wouldn't miss their rear LSD - if that's what they've got

Yeah agreed with the telling of anyone until its in your subi/shed/safe

Cheers

Apparently guys in the rally scene wet their pants when you mention these diffs.

considering the spec of some of their turbo models (ie first Gen Lib turbo was non intercooled 2.2L, bug-eyed WRX came with RX brakes), I bet they didn't come with LSDs:rolleyes:
