Just a toy...

I decided to knock together a quick little model of the MY series wagon, as I dont have one yet and haven't ever found any on the toyshop shelves. Just used a scrap of 1.2mm gal sheet, drilled, cut, filed and hammered 2 identical side pieces, then welded in a roof and bonnet between them. I might finish the body tomorrow before adding the signature body grooves etc...
Then I'll mount it on a chassis with Sunraysia wheels and basic interior. Might also glue in some windows while I'm putting the headlights and bits in it too...
It's around 4 and a half inches long and just sitting on a set of Lego wheels for tonight's photo shoot.

Ok, the metalwork is done now. The details were put into the body with a 5 inch angle grinder, just to challenge myself further. The cutoff disc was actually bigger than the whole car...
Headlights, tail lights, grill, interior will be put in using carved plastic. At this stage I'm planning on actually leaving the outside as is, so it's not hidden by paint.
Inside is not much to look at...
Oh, and just for some perspective, so everyone realises how small this this is... Being so small, the imperfections that show up in the main photos actually aren't so noticable "in the flesh", as they're quite tiny.

Awesome work! Next you'll be building an MY from fresh steel just for something to do!

Just a little update on ONE of my "way too many" projects.
Did this the other night. Broke up a toy car from Aldi to put forrester style wheels and full interior into the "Micro beast". This'll do as a shelf display model until I install the full radio control system, 4WD with front and rear diffs, McPherson strut front and torsion rear suspension, front mounted dual pager motors, 12mm long drive shafts, and micro steel Sunraysia wheels. (I'm serious too, not kidding in the least...)

Man, your skills are truly godlike. If you make a brumby or an outback I'll want one!
