Kicks off in half an hour with the drivers' briefing. About an hour until they start making noise.

Race one was excellent. Only 3 minutes off first and second in class. Finished in 3rd out of 9. Very good. Second race was going just as well until the gearbox blew up. Broke the case about 300 degrees. Nearly right around at the diff. We swapped it out for the spare box just on dark in about 2 hours.

Ready to race again tomorrow now.

Sounds good above...
Gearbox - How did it break? too hot or what?
Can you show pics of the gearbox?
Cheers

If I think of it I will get some pics today. When they came back from the first race I told them I could hear a whine some where. We looked around and couldn't find any thing obvious. 50k's in to the next race it just exploded with no warning.

Theory is that a bearing has collapsed and allowed the crown to climb the pinion and break the case.

All over for another year. Brumbyrunner finished in 4th place in class for the race, 2nd place in the AORC for the round, 28th overall for the event.

A 6 speed box looks like it will be going in before the next event due to breaking the second box today. 3rd gear blew in the first race, 2nd gear in the last. With out the 2 gear losses and the flat tyre in the 3rd event the finish should have been 3rd overall. He was only 1 min 04 secs behind 3rd.
