I've done it.

What's your donor, an earlier MY is easier. You will need to change:

Crank fan to electric
Add AC radiator & fan, pipes from compressor to radiator (make sure you get from one car, there are two different radiators and different pipes to match).
Back of glovebox needs to be shortened (take back from AC donor)
Heater box unit (half is common with non-AC, half is much bigger). There is a drain pipe that goes out through the floor once you pop out the plastic bung. It can be changed over without moving the dash but not much fun.
Wiring is dead easy inside car, just take out the wiring connected to the AC button, it will exit the car in top left corner under the hood. It then travels to the group of relays on the left shock tower (you need them from the donor), and then runs to the front left corner and then along the bottom edge rail at the front of the car and up to the battery. You can also put the fast-idle circuit in if you want (I have not needed to).

My 84 Brumby system was Unicla and did not have the glovebox shortened trick.

I have found MY sedan of same year had a radiator thats core was about 40mm longer from left to right, longer than std Brumby.

Does anybody know of any wreckers in NSW or elsewhere that are likely to have an air conditioning kit to suit the Brumby? Or is there a similar model with identical parts?

G'day Brumby Dan.

Any MY that has AC will fit your brumby - just make sure you get all the parts! Or buy a donor vehicle/find a mate who's stripping one out that you can grab the parts off...

Other than the doors just about everything MY related from the dash forward is interchangable with the brumby. Check out Sunnie the Brumby to see what can be done with original parts ;)

Cheers
